To all the idiots...

...that have refused to leave the Surfside Beach and Galveston island areas (or any area where evacuation was called for) ~ I hope you get exactly what you deserve...

9/13 ~ and for all those who are now whining for help ~ they should be charged for their rescues! Can't pay? Fine ~ here's mandatory community service work to do to make up for it!

Excellent idea!!!! It is rather selfish of people to stay. The emergency people have plenty to do without having to check up on everyone, even if you don't call for help, they are going to be obligated to at least check on everyone.

Yep, they can all pay or help in the cleanup.

Why when mandatory evacuation was ordered did they all refuse to leave. 40% of the population stayed - what morons!!!

When FEMA said they wouldn't go into New Orleans ahead of Hanna (or was that Gustav), people got out, but not Texas.......they ALWAYS knew they'd be rescued - it's so wrong!

people stay because they have homes and posessions. and they dont want to leave. they feel that they need to stay with their homes because without that, they are nothing. i dont totally blame them...

but at the same time, if you are going to ignore advice and not evac, then they definitely should be charged somehow.

Someone said that instead of supplies, they should instead drop water wings and air mattresses. ITA.

Galveston folks are no strangers to hurricaines. Galveston is a narrow island for pity's sake. They had water coming in on both sides. I understand having your house etc. but honestly, what can you do to fight a hurricane by staying that you could not do before you left?
I don't think my tax dollars should go to people who are too stubborn to leave when the authorities (who usually don't have anything important to say) put out a mandatory evacuation order. If the order is mandatory by the government, why do the tax dollars I pay to the government to manage go to pay to help those who do not heed the order?
