After several years of lurking and being wildly inspired, I’ve finally gathered my courage and decided to share in the fun!
WBC is a yearly event, hosted by Karen Valentine at
My Desert Cottage.
Karen generously puts together this blog party so that bloggers can share their creative spaces. I hope you enjoy touring my craft room; seeing some of the art I've created, and the things that inspire me.
When you are done, you can hop over to Karen's site where there is a list of other bloggers participating in the event.
Get yourself a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, and come climb the stairs to my Sea Gypsy’s Nest with me...
The Nest is an approx. 325 Sq. Ft. (30.2 Sqm) bonus room over the garage ~ there is a half bath, almost more storage space than I know what to do with, and a large west facing window that gives me a great view our colorful sunsets.
Click on pix to enlarge...
Greeting you at the top of the stairs is Morgan, my 3 ft. tall Unicorn gatekeeper!
The next 2 pix are just quick overviews of the western end of the room...
Immediately to the left after the stairs is the entrance to the half bath ~ I'm not showing that, as I have yet to repaint over it's pukey brown color! You'll just have to wait till next year to see it :)
Off the half bath is a 6 x 7 closet ~ the husband built me the awesome shelving, and will be putting me up some peg board on that back wall. You can see I still have lots of room for more stash!!!
Coming back out of the half bath, I'll take you for the rest of the Grand Tour going counter clockwise...
This is a regular bedroom-type closet; since it is very close to my main work area, it is great for all the things I use the most frequently, and for some treasured possession ~ my original "Peanuts" lunch box (circa 4th grade), some of my Hummel pieces and a small sign a friend made for me...
A dioramic music box from Germany circa 1965 ~ it still plays the original tune!
A side desk from Scrap'n'Cube ~ I LOVE their products! They are sturdy, indestructible, beautiful, customizable and worth every single penny!
Oh ~ and yes ~ I AM a Pooh fanatic!!
My first cuff bracelet ~ I can't wait to work on another one!!
Then we're around a corner into a little niche ~ the Life magazine is from the day I was born; the chalk drawing is me, age 9, done at Disneyland.
Within the niche ~ my rosewood desk, early needlepoints, and Florence NightenBear ~ a gift from hubby when I graduated from nursing school!
One of my proudest achievements... my "Fruit of the Loom" award from high school graduation ~ long story, but lets just say my best friend and I RAWKED boy's pastel boxers!!!
The top of the TV cabinet holds treasured childhood and nursing career memories ~ and my baby shoes!!
My wire dress model, swathed in velvet and lace scarfs...
Um... it's not really crooked on my wall! The print is something I found in one of the antique medical books I collect; the signed picture of the nurse was found in a junk shoppe.
Hummels, shells, ceramics and a mini astrolabe...
Please meet Sammy the Snake ~ he has been with me since about 1968. He and Oscar the Otter have become fast friends...
My area to relax ~ I want to get a nice, cushy sofa bed to put here for guests...
The smaller storage closet ~again, the husband put me in some nice shelving ~
See ~ I TOLD you I was a Pooh fan! All three pieces of the blue child's furniture were bought by my folks for me when we were in Germany the second time (c. 1965). I love the way they remind me of where I was born!
These next 3 areas are "craft central" for me...more of the Scrap 'n' Cube furniture, travel & ocean treasures, and things that never fail to make me smile! I especially love the pull-out file drawers (first picture) that are made to hold 12 x 12 papers...
So there it is ~ my Sea Gypsy's Nest. Thank you for stopping by ~ it was lovely to have you here!
And don't forget to check out all the other great spaces in the 2012 Where Bloggers Create Event!

Bobbie, dear......with my poor vision I cannot see the lovely photos you posted and I can't seem to read your narrative since it appears to me to be all "x"'s. Sigh.
I still love you and will be back.
Wow! Looks like you have settled right in. Awesome pics and fun to look at. Enjoy your time up there!

I was so blown away that I made too many typos in my first comment, hence the deletion.

Nice peeps, love all your beachy creations. You do a TH shadow box proud. Thanks for sharing. the 'pukey brown' comment made me laugh. I am sure whomever designed that color had an exotic name like 'sandalwood' or such for it. Keep smiling and creating

I love your painter's tray!!! I love the space you have to work in...a little jealous here.
BTW, Pat is gone for a one year tour and will be home around Christmas. Unfortunately he's going to miss Garret's 18th birthday AND graduation which is disappointing. Garret is joining the marines this summer.
Tell Bonnie I said HOWDY. I wish I could meet up with you at Ry's.
I envy you the large creative space. In our former home, I had an entire room dedicated to sewing - I didn't do many other crafts then. When we downsized to our little beach cottage, I gave up space. I tried working in our guest room, but then I can't leave work out when guests are visiting. I tried a corner of my husband's art studio, but it is the place where he earns an income and I was getting in the way. I am in the garage and actually loving it. I have it fixed up to work for me.
Thanks for letting me know where to see your space.
Wow.. LOVE the room you have here, and what a nice husband to help you with all those gorgeous shelves!! LOVED your beautiful German music box, and the cradle that holds your little friends from the Hundred Acre Wood! Thank you for sharing your beautiful creative space, and hope you're enjoying your weekend! ~tina
thanks for sharing your sweet space Bobbi...what a lucky girl you are
hugs
You have a lovely large space. I like how you keep the spaces between your treasured items. Very effective visually. I love the sea and sand too and pooh of course.
I really like that corner desk with the inspirational words above.

Bobbie,
I love your blog and your studio. I love Pooh Bear too! Thank you for taking the time to visit my studio. The magnetic peg board came from Home Depot on-line.
Happy studio visiting!
Terry
Awesome space!!!!! Would love to come work in there a bit.
how awesome Bobbie miss talking with you - . my life and yours have changed so much since we met up together in Pullman. Hows your new little boy... guess he isn't a pup anymore huh! Magoo is going to be 8 in a couple days. He has a new sis Izzy Bee ( Izzabella Mae. I gave her Maggie our shnauser's middle name (Mae). She died of congestive heart failure 7 yrs ago.Rick just snapped and I started noticing behavior from Magoo that wasn't normal .. I came home one summer late afternoon after he had beaten Magoo so badly and then preocedeeded to unirate on him while he locked him up in his fdog bed not once but twioce in our living room! I could tell when I walked in the house that Rick was wound so tight that when he said he was just about to take any number of his guns to take Magoos life... that it was time for me to take myself and Izzy the 2 pd dog (runt of litter)out of the house... it would of only been a matter of time and I would of been or could of been next.
whats sad is he didnt understand why I left i asked him to get counseling. he wouldnt. Its like something in him just snapped after the loss of his father and he had never had to deal with death of a loved one or a true friend.
I still love him and we dated once a week for a couple yrs after the divorce. Then I had a car wreck and he said i thought you wood of had a wreck sooner after we moved. ( i knew then by the way he had asked things he had taken out extra life insurance on me.) I thought I was just making it up in my mind and then he visited my sister's husband and mentioned the same thing to him. The whole experience was quite a journey Rick and I had sold our home and moved up to the area 3 yrs prior so it was fairly easy to split our assets. I lived with my sister and her husband for six mos until the divorce was finished. I tried with him to make it work but then he went back on promises and ... i was not going to live the way it had been no love from him he had gone to the extreme of not answering me. 18 yrs together and nothing like this ever. It was quite dramatic for my ex husband and it wasnt long after he lost his father to throat cancer that he had lost Maggie. Also later I found out he was really being bullied at work and he had basically sat by himself and didnt communicate with others at work which isnt good. ... and myself and the dogs became the punching bags verbally. i journalled my way through the divorce it was so hard - but in doing so and seeing a councelor and family commenting - they could see the dogs personalities change and myslef also. I also remember something in my mind at the time we split told me to look up this old high school/college sweetheart... i didnt look very well for him online . long story short we had and still have a connection that no one can compete with - we were both going thru a divorce at the same time.... but i cant understand it he jumped into a relationship and its a rebound not a great one... but i cant be there even though he wants me to be his friend for life. I just cant put myself in that kind of a place. He knows how he feels and its not right for his wife to be second best he needs to figure it out. if he ever does. he had been married for 20 yrs and his wife had an emotional.. physical affair on him and asked for a divorce.
his current wife they weren't even married a yr when he could see it wasnt going to work. he separated and thats when i found him ... i had just had a car wreck and ... some serious injuries. but during this time since he lives in southern Idaho not far from u. we talked on the phone quite a bit and found out we were both thinking of each other throughout the last 30 plus yrs since we had last seen each other.
